I grabbed a 2013 Raleigh Macaframa new in box. Raleigh still has quite a few of these left in their warehouses. For the non-initiated, the Macaframa was basically just a much cooler version of Raleigh’s Rush Hour Pro, their dedicated track bike. All white paint scheme, with some graphics from Mike Giant, and minimal logos.
Originally, I was just going to transfer the majority of parts from my previous build to this one. But unexpectedly, someone was interested in my previous build complete, and I wound up with a much higher than expected budget for this project. I went a bit wild.
Rotor Track Cranks are the party piece, along with a pretty nice build the rest of the way through:
Ritchey x Cadence Keta bar and stem, All City Thunderdome Fork (to have access to brakes), a WOOdman SL Plus post, Cadence Collection bar tape, a Fabric Scoop Race, and some handbuilt by yours truly wheels – Phil Wood High Flange Hubs discontinued White laced to hard ano H+ Son Archerypes.
From time to time a Ritchey WCS setback post & a brooks saddle make their way onto the bike, as fit demands for longer rides, as the bike has been brought out on a charity century before, and likely will do so again.
The original (white) fork still exists, and may see its way onto the bike if the opportunity to ride a velodrome presents itself again.
It’s a truly sublime ride, especially with the new wheels. It’s a great bike, that’s been on some great rides, and hopefully will be on a few more.
